Dreamy Downtown Abingdon Engagement Photos in Abingdon, Virginia

These beautiful Abingdon engagement photos are from so many gorgeous locations in downtown Abingdon, Virginia! This sweet couple drove several hours for their shoot! Can you believe that?! Luckily they got to spend the weekend catching up with family, but there is no denying that they were dedicated to having amazing Abingdon engagement photos while they were in town!

These Arynn and Hunter met during their time at Tennessee High; she was a cute freshman and he was a hunky senior. They were introduced through mutual friends and immediately hit it off. For the next couple of weeks, they kept finding reasons to bump into one another in the halls and eventually found themselves dating! When Hunter left for college they went their separate ways, but their story wasn’t over yet. In 2016, they ran into each other at the Rhythm and Roots festival in Bristol. She was living in Greenville, SC and Hunter was doing his Pharmacy Residency at a local hospital. The spark was lit and they spent the weekend catching up on the past 10 years, but again went their separate ways.

It was the power of social media that eventually brought the two back to each other! After liking some insta photos and sending some DMs, they found themselves right back at the music festival that they’d enjoyed together the year before. Together they decided to make FaceTime dates and long distance calls work until they finally lived in the same place!

During Arynn and Hunter’s Abingdon engagement photos session, we walked down the Creeper Trail in Abingdon. Arynn had mentioned multiple times in our email exchanges that she wanted to have portraits taken on the Virginia Creeper Trail and it definitely did not disappoint! Historic Abingdon is known for its’ gorgeous portion of the trail and with the evening sunlight glow it was absolutely stunning! We ended up in the heart of downtown at the Martha Washington Inn and across from the iconic Barter Theater. I was pretty obsessed with Arynn’s velvet skirt, which she informed me was actually a completely last minute decision!

Moments like this remind me that Abingdon engagement photos are more about the adventure and the experience than they are about the images. The images are important but the quality time that we get to spend with my couples is what means the most to me! I truly loved the time with Arynn and Hunter and I am so excited to see them tie the knot this June at Middle Fork Barn!!
