Rough Ridge Overlook Engagement Photos in Asheville, North Carolina

It was still very much dark when I hopped in the car to meet these lovebirds for their Rough Ridge Overlook engagement session, but I honestly didn’t even notice! This scenic drive on the Blue Ridge Parkway was so peaceful and lovely that I almost missed the pull off spot altogether!

It’s always such an adventure to do Rough Ridge Overlook engagement photos because the hike is absolutely breathtaking! As you’re hiking to the top of the mountain there are several picturesque spots with massive boulders and a boardwalk that seems to disappear into the sky. The trek to the overlook is about 1/3 mile and isn’t far off of the Blue Ridge Parkway at all! Once you arrive to the top you’ll have unfettered views of Grandfather Mountain and the Linn Cove Viaduct. We managed to climb one of the iconic boulders for Erica and Joey’s Rough Ridge Overlook engagement photos and were rewarded with panoramic views as the backdrop!

Our hike up the mountain was such an adventure and I learned so much about these two that I almost didn’t realize we’d hit the top! Erica and Joey have been together for eight years–before they were allowed to drive! They’ve never separated and always knew that they would spend the rest of their lives together! How cute is that?! In addition, these high school sweethearts have the most adorable Corgi named Kuechly who played a key role in disguising Joey’s romantic proposal this past summer. So I’m definitely hoping that I get to meet their furry friend on their wedding day!

I could definitely see how much Erica and Joey care for each other during our excursion for their Rough Ridge Overlook engagement session. Joey was always keeping an eye on his bride-to-be and never took a step without making sure she managed okay first. They laughed as the not-so-romantic wind blew Erica’s hair straight up in the air and hugged each other for warmth. These two definitely know how to adventure together and I am so excited to see what they come up with for their nuptials next September!
