Here’s A Little North Carolina Engagement Photo Inspiration For You:
Table of Contents
I’ve said it before and I will say it again (multiple times, most likely!): the Appalachian Mountains are truly the best place for photos. If you’re looking for the perfect spot for your Pinterest-worthy North Carolina engagement photos, it’s totally worth the trek for these Roan Mountain views!
Where to Navigate To
Well, technically Roan Mountain is both in North Carolina and Tennessee. The Carver’s Gap trailhead is just about split in half between the two! It’s slightly surreal to climb up to the top of the Round Bald and see panoramic views of both states for endless miles.
You can also get some pretty fabulous North Carolina engagement photos by just driving along the Blue Ridge Parkway and stopping, well, just about anywhere. The mountain views are incredible and I love getting to explore new places for North Carolina engagement photos.
When To Plan Your Session
If you’re looking at planning North Carolina engagement photos in the Appalachian Mountains, it’s definitely ideal to shoot for a summer month when scheduling your session. A lot of the mountain access roads and trailheads are straight up closed during the winter, plus it’s just SO COLD on mountain tops.
Pro Tip: Factor in the mountain tops are about 1.5 months behind in the spring weather and 1.5 months ahead in the fall!
If you’re just dying for those autumn tones and fall foliage during your North Carolina engagement photos in the mountains then I’d plan on early September for your session. Sometimes the leaves change a little later in the month, but shooting for early- to mid-September is a great plan to capture those peak season color changes! (It will also allow time for a reschedule or two if inclement weather becomes an issue.)
How To Get There
If I’m being honest, North Carolina engagement photos in the Appalachian Mountains can be taken just about anywhere on that Western state border. Asheville, North Carolina has several stunning state parks to explore for engagement photos too! Seriously, Pigsah National Forrest is seriously breathtaking. There’s also Boone, North Carolina which is picturesque any time of year and home of Appalachian State University!
For views like the ones below? You’ll need to head on over to Roan Mountain State Park. I may be biased, but it’s the best view around with the easiest hike to the top. (By easy, it’s more of an uphill walk!) You’ll navigate to the Carver’s Gap parking area and take the trail up to the top. It’s about a 300ft incline and just under one mile in distance up to the Round Bald!
Choose An Incredible Photographer
You definitely don’t have to choose me to take your North Carolina engagement photos (I definitely hope you do!), but whomever you choose needs to be super qualified to take your photos.
