Stunning Fall Maternity Session at Backbone Rock, Damascus Virginia
I’ll never get tired of shooting family sessions in the Blue Ridge Mountains. The golden tones and stunning views make it easy to want to visit every overlook on the parkway. If you’re traveling nearby, you need to make a stop to Backbone Rock in Damascus, Virginia. For Jacque and Jared’s family photos we made a point to check out some of the most incredible spots on Backbone Rock just for fun! I always love getting to catch up with this cute family and it’s even sweeter now that they have another baby girl on the way!
The View From Backbone Rock
As it was almost truly almost winter when we made our way up Backbone Rock, we did have to bundle up before heading to the top. There are some gorgeous spots atop the tunnel, but it is a bit of a climb to see it! You’ll need to be able to brave stairs and have good footing as not to slip!
Jacque wore this wonderful and unique fur poncho that her mother bought years ago, which truly fit in to the woodsy atmosphere. I loved that little Louie matched her mama in a cute faux fur vest and black on black outfit–complete with a big ol’ bow! It was the perfect combination for the golden glow we had throughout their family session.
We made our way back down the Backbone Rock lookout and to the stunning river that runs just beside it for the rest of the family’s photos. Jacque wore a stunning white maternity gown and was truly radiant in her third trimester before little Lennie’s arrival!
I had the privilege of capturing maternity photos for Jacque almost three years ago when they were expecting Louie! It has been so fun watching their adventures as a family and I cannot wait to meet their second baby girl coming early this spring! In the meantime, make sure to check out a few of my favorites from their maternity session at Backbone Rock! It’s definitely one of my favorites!
