A modern couple’s perfect venue: Common House Richmond
A Common House Richmond wedding is the newest wedding venue on my list of favorites. Located in the heart of Richmond’s Arts District, this Virginia location boasts more than five settings to hold your nuptials, your cocktails, and your dancing. If you’re a couple looking for a modern and current vibe for your wedding, in the heart of an amazing district, a Common House wedding is for you!
Let’s chat more about this special venue.
A touch of Virginian history
Common House Richmond is located in a beautiful, historic building that was once a furniture factory. Its location in the heart of the arts district positions it as a cool, sophisticated spot next to the town’s best art galleries, museums, and downtown attractions. Your guests will definitely feel the old school, “cool kids” vibe as they venture into the several story building.
Ceremony settings that give some serious charm
I don’t even know where to start with the venue settings. I am obsessed with them ALL. But I suppose we’ll start with the Union Hall. This bright and airy room features original hardwood floors, tall windows, and a floor to ceiling window that opens to a courtyard. With rattan light fixtures and warm white walls, this setting screams “we’re a hip-as-all-heck couple, thank you very much”.
The floor to ceiling window brings us to our next stop: the Courtyard. It offers original brick walls that create the perfect backdrop to your ceremony, and an open-air roof with cascading lights that will twinkle as you take your first dance. It’s also the perfect place for a gorgeous floral arbor like the one made by Urban Flora below!
What’s so cool about a Common House wedding is the access to some very unique rooms. There is a special screening room with olive-y sage vintage chairs, and a wine cellar with a wraparound staircase. To put it plainly, you have some super cool hidden spots for your guests to explore in between dancing to “Twist and Shout” and sipping your signature cocktail.
Did I mention photo ops? How could I forget?!
A Common House wedding means you have stellar backdrops for your couple photos. Whether it’s a brick background, a warm white wall, a chic social hall, or a velvet green booth underneath a sage green arch–you have a ton of options from which to choose for your wedding photos.
Imagine you and your partner sipping your signature drink in the velvet green booth of the Common House Richmond restaurant–all while I snap a few photos. Or maybe you both want a sunset backdrop! We have a rooftop bar for that! What’s more, there is also a pool, and I highly recommend an evening dip in the pool for some sweet and fun memories to capture.
Ready to say YES?
I had a feeling you would! You will not regret choosing Common House Richmond for your wedding. You’ve chosen a chic, modern, FUN venue that will bring a current but elevated feel to your special day. First comes venue, then comes vendors. I know how hard it is to choose, so I want to make it super easy for you. I’d love to be your photographer. I have over eight years of wedding experience as a Virginia photographer, and I know exactly how to capture the best shots that will help you keep your memories for years to come. Ready to book? I am so humbled! Let’s chat.
One of my favorite things about a Common House Richmond wedding? It’s SO close to everything! You’ll be getting married in the heart of downtown Richmond and just a walk away from so many wonderful hotels, restaurants, and shops. I mean, who wouldn’t want some of the incredibly decadent desserts from Arly Cakes?
You can get ready at the Common House or you could stay just a block away at the infamous Quirk Hotel Richmond, which was truly made for getting ready portraits! Or you could step away from the venue like Rachel + Juan did and take wedding party photos just a minute walk down the road.
