Let’s Talk About Your Washington DC Same Sex Wedding, Shall We?
I think one of the most heartbreaking questions I ever get is from my same sex couples. It doesn’t happen every inquiry, but a good majority of my gay couples send the question, “Do you photograph weddings for the LGBTQ+ community?”
It doesn’t matter how many times I read the question–it breaks my heart every time.
The answer is: Yes, I 100%, absolutely, and wholeheartedly will work with you and capture your love story just like any other couple.
Equality means everything to me. I am here to be an advocate for all of my couples regardless of race, gender identity, sexual identity, or physical & mental ability. I will always stand against discrimination and racism of any kind and I’m dedicated to actively fighting to make this world more inclusive — through my work and through my personal endeavors. Because, to me, those are the same thing.
Planning The Same Sex Wedding Of Their Dreams
When Alisha & Beth reached out to me about photographing their Washington DC Same Sex wedding at the Larz Anderson House I was seriously psyched. (I mean, you know I have a whole blog post dedicated to WHY you should be having a Larz Anderson House wedding, right?!)
These ladies reached out with a vision and I was so excited they wanted me to capture it all!
They chose a Washington DC wedding venue that reflected their personalities and that didn’t require extra decoration because it spoke for itself–amen to that! Once they set eyes on the Larz Anderson House, they never looked back!
Fun Fact: the Larz Anderson House also prides itself on being a Washington DC Same Sex wedding inclusive and welcoming venue for all couples!
Gorgeous Gay Wedding Inspiration
These two selected the best of the best when it came to their Washington DC Same Sex wedding day and they couldn’t have made a better choice by hiring A. Griffin Events to bring it all to life! Their wedding was an absolute fairy tale with over-the-top florals and a floral arch that had everyone swooning.
Alisha + Beth chose to invest in the best guest experience possible and splurge on welcome bags for their family and friends in attendance. They made sure to pay tribute to their fur babies as well and had cute portraits of their cats printed on, well, everything!
Favorite Lesbian Wedding Ideas
I think what I loved the most about Alisha + Beth is that they are unapologetically themselves. Neither of them second guessed what they wanted when it came to their wedding day and made sure to incorporate it all into their Washington DC same sex wedding.
Beth is this confident, kick ass human being who absolutely stunned in an all white suit. She wore chic neutral heels for the beginning of the day and switched to these iconic gold loafers when it came time to party at the reception. She paired timeless gold jewelry with her look to really bring it all together and I was definitely loving the whole vibe!
Alisha, on the other hand, totally leaned in to the fairy tale element of their Washington DC same sex wedding day. Her dress was soft, delicate, and overlayed with lace. She chose an abundance of gorgeous pastel flowers for her bridal bouquet, which matched perfectly with the Winter Garden room at the Larz Anderson House!

With every wedding, it is so important to really know and trust your wedding vendor team. You want to feel confident that they have everything covered on your wedding day so that you can be wholly present to enjoy the incredible, monumental event in your lives.
