Truly Stunning Whitetop Mountain Elopement

Four Reasons to have a Whitetop Mountain Elopement

If you live in Southwest Virginia then you may already know this, but Whitetop Mountain is the second-highest mountain in all of Virginia. The best part? Making your way to the top of the mountain is by far one of the easiest trips you can take! Although you definitely should plan on taking a four wheel drive vehicle, the trail to the top of the mountain is a gravel road and ends just before the peak. It’s my favorite place to take couples looking for a panoramic view of the Blue Ridge Mountains without the trek required!

The ease of the trip is honestly just one of the reasons I suggest this spot for Whitetop Mountain Elopements though! As you’re scaling the mountain you’ll notice that there are so many different spots along the way for photo opportunities. Not only is Whitetop Mountain a perfect place to watch wild animals in their natural habitat or go bird watching, but it is also the perfect place to have your dream Whitetop Mountain elopement wedding.

Would you define yourself and your partner as free-willed and always up for an adventure? This is the perfect place for your Whitetop Mountain elopement! On the day of your wedding, you can hit the open fields with your immediate family and your closest friends, vow your love for each other, and then hit the road of exploring one of Virginia’s most popular areas.

Elopement weddings are so intimate and special, and if you have a love and passion for the great outdoors, here are some reasons why you should choose Whitetop Mountain in Virginia for your elopement ceremony…

Why Choose Whitetop Mountain for your Elopement Ceremony?

1. Panoramic Mountain views

Being that this location is literally the second highest mountain in the state of Virginia, you can expect nothing but truly unobstructed mountain views as you say your “I dos”. As a long-time Virginia wedding photographer, I’ve scaled many of the Blue Ridge Mountains over the years and I always recommend Whitetop Mountain to my couples looking for scenic view without the trek required to get it. It’s such a photogenic drive up and the grand finale is always the sunset photos taken at the top of the mountain!

2. Ease of Access

This is definitely an important factor when planning a Whitetop Mountain elopement! Even if you’re an avid hiker and feel you could scale the side of a mountain to tie the knot, some of your closest friends and family may not share that ability. Luckily with Whitetop Mountain elopements, you don’t have to choose whether to keep the scenic views of the Blue Ridge Mountains or have your loved ones tag along for the ride! Whitetop Mountain has an access road that is rather well maintained and virtually all the way to the top of the mountain. You can get those dreamy mountain views just by hopping out of the car!

3. Hop on the Appalachian Trail

The one thing people love the most about this location is that Whitetop Mountain is actually a part of the notorious Appalachian Trail, so if you want to start your adventure after you say your “I dos”, you can just hop right on the trail and get to exploring! Swap your elopement attire for hiking attire and you’ll be on your way. How’s that for a honeymoon adventure?!

4. Show Stopping Wedding Photos

If you’re looking for an intimate wedding location that will photograph just as incredibly as it looks in real life–you’re going to want to have a Whitetop Mountain elopement! I feel like I can’t stop raving about how stunning this location will be for your elopement wedding photos, but honestly it’s true! No matter the season (although, I definitely prefer spring to early fall), you’ll get stunning wedding day images you’ll cherish for a lifetime when you pick Whitetop Mountain!
