5 Photos You Definitely Need To Capture At Your Mount Ida Farm Wedding

Looking for the top 5 photos you must capture at your Mount Ida Farm wedding?

A Mount Ida Farm wedding means creative wedding photos galore! I know this venue in and out, and today I want to give you all my photo secrets by offering you five photo ops you must capture at Mount Ida Farm.

1. A rod-iron gazebo moment.

Located at the end of the Event Barn, the lakeside gazebo is not only stunning, but it offers such a rare backdrop to your ceremony photos. With the water element of the lake and fountain, you get both a peaceful ambiance as well as a stately one. I love snapping pictures of your vows against this backdrop, with the sun shining through the gazebo columns. Chef’s kiss!

2. A shot on the open road.

Post-ceremony, one of my favorite spots to get an editorial, candid shot of the couple is by the open road. Mount Ida Farm has a gated entrance at the end of a long, winding, country road. It’s especially beautiful in the springtime when the grass is Kelly green. This offers a great, natural backdrop to a few lovely couples’ photos!

3. The Event Barn–too many photo opportunities to count.

Maybe I should parse this one out, but I have two more photo ops I want to talk about. But truly, the Event Barn gives us so much to work with. The 8,500 sq. ft. barn was meticulously restored and boasts not only a bridal suite, a groom’s suite, two large outdoor patios, and an oversized, outdoor fireplace, but it also offers an indoor, stone fireplace and a backup ceremony spot, just in case the weather is wonky!

This gives me so much to work with when it comes to photo opportunities, especially with the expansive fireplaces. Imagine you and your honey next to a cracking fire pit at sunset. Those golden hour photos are in my dreams, I tell ya!

4. A balcony shot with your wedding party.

Whether you’re a bride, groom, or anything else for that matter–you need a shot on the balcony with your crew. This is such a cheeky photo opportunity I love to get at Mount Ida Farm. The candids in this spot show not only the excitement prior to the ceremony, but the beautiful exterior of the venue.

5. Cute shots on the white fence.

A Mount Ida Farm wedding means you’re getting a pristine country atmosphere. I love using that to our benefit when it comes to snapping photos of your wedding memories. There is a beautiful, stark white fence that protects the grounds, and it’s a great photo opportunity. I love getting the couple sitting on it, swinging their feet and wearing the biggest smiles.

I also love getting the flower girls and ring bearers to hang on the fence, peeking through its holes. The cuteness–I die!

Let’s get you married!

Other things I absolutely love about this gorgeous Charlottesville wedding venue? Mount Ida Farm has panoramic views from pretty much any spot at the venue! You’ll get those endless mountain views no matter where you go on your wedding day here. It’s a very close image to the stunning (and BRIDES magazine featured!) Pippin Hill Farm & Vineyard which is just down the road!

Charlottesville is definitely one of my favorite Virginia cities for weddings and that’s mostly to do with the abundance of wine readily available! With a ton of vineyards around the area you’ll have the most romantic time planning out your big day. Plus, you have a ton of great spots to choose from for your rehearsal dinner too!

hi, i'm danielle—

In the past 10+ years as a Wedding & Portrait Photographer, I’ve found that, aside from arming myself with my cameras to catch swoon-worthy moments of my couples on their day, I’m also bringing a few other unexpected things.

Like my tough love mom-voice that will keep your bridal party in check, my air of calm if you’re feeling overwhelmed, and the corniest jokes so no one has the jitters in front of the camera!

Because so much more goes into getting those gorgeous wedding photos than just hitting “click!”

and I'm not just bringing my camera to your big day.
